Rooms & Rates
All three of the Baird Tavern's spacious, antique-filled guestrooms are located on the second floor.
Tucked away at the end of a narrow hall, the Ashley Room is named after Dr. William Ashley who, taking advantage of the clean mountain air, used the house as a restorative retreat for his patients. You'll be transported to another time when you wake up to the sun in the beautiful luxurious cherry queen size bed.
Feel the warmth of the original, native pine floorboards under your feet as you walk over to the antique spinning wheel sitting in the corner. You may even notice a charred spot on the floor, left long ago by a woodstove that got too hot. A large, sunny, beautifully tiled bathroom decorated with pewter sconces and handmade pine cabinetry accompanies the room. The Ashley Room rate is $160 per night.
Wake up to the songs of birds in this room named after the Bartholomew family, owners who ran the former tavern as a stagecoach stop during the 1800s, and legend has it, part of the Underground Railroad. A romantic queen size Shaker style pencil post canopy dominates, while the original, wide pine flooring suffuses the room with warmth. The Bartholomew Room rate is $140 per night.
The Taggart Room
Plenty of space in this unique room that sleeps up to five people! Three twin beds and one double bed, all antiques, make it a perfect choice for families or friends traveling together. Sloping ceiling, low windows, and a brick chimney lend charm to this cozy space. Windows on both sides of the room look out over the bird feeders, so guests can enjoy the antics of the wildlife gathered below. The Taggart Room rate is $140 per night.
Baird Tavern is open year round, including Thanksgiving and Christmas. There is a two night minimum stay some weekends. Room rates range from $140 - $160/night and are based on a maximum of two people in the rooms. All of the guest rooms can easily accommodate extra guests at the rate of $25/night for each additional person.
Perhaps the most memorable highlight of your stay at Baird Tavern is breakfast. Meet your fellow travelers for stimulating conversation over the full, farm style country breakfast, beginning with freshly ground coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice.
Carolyn, a gourmet caterer, is always ready to prepare such delectable treats as: blueberry pancakes made with the Baird Tavern's own wild high bush blueberries, country style bacon, local sausage, omelets with cheddar, avocado and salsa or goat cheese, artichokes and mushrooms. Low fat options include fresh fruit in season, Greek style yogurt prepared with apples, almonds, and a drizzle of honey, Irish steelcut oatmeal, dry cereals, toast, muffins, and bagels.
Breakfast is served in the original kitchen of the house that features a cavernous fireplace once used to prepare meals for hungry travelers. Guests can also choose to dine in the tavern's summer kitchen, built in 1810. Birdfeeders placed at windows on both sides of the kitchen provide an endless source of entertainment during breakfast.
The Baird Tavern Inn is a wonderful and relaxing gathering place for your special catered event. Dinners can be arranged for guests staying at the inn for parties of six or more people. We can host candle and fire lit wedding receptions, bridal showers, anniversary parties and reunions for up to thirty people. The inn also provides retreats for your organization complete with catered meals. Please inquire about menus and prices. During the months of November through April, when the warmth of hearth and home beckons, your stay can include dinners as part of a package. Ask for details about this attractive arrangement.
